Ron Barbour’s Tribute to Bob Guimarin

Mother Lode Parade

We had a great showing with 18 Model A’s and enjoyed perfect weather, we got rolling at 10:10 right behind the Summerville Marching Band and ended at the Costello’s house for a fun picnic!

Seminar at the Guzzetta’s

It was a reboot for the Duel Seminars, this time at the Guzzetta’s. Judy hosted the Round Up Hospitality gang to assemble candy bags for the registration bags, 180 pieces!

The fellas installed a horn on Georges car, and worked on the ’31 roadster, but tried as we could, we couldn’t get it to fire up. No compression in the cylinders…

Columbia Walking Tour

Our recent outing to Columbia State Historic Park turned into one of those perfectly balanced days that reminds you why we do these tours in the first place, great people, a little history, and just enough time behind the wheel of a Model A.

A big thank you goes to Ron and Julie Wurz for planning and leading the tour. Everything came together beautifully, starting with a pleasant drive over to Columbia under cooperative skies. Thirteen of us made the tour, enjoying the scenic run as much as the destination itself.

Once in Columbia, we were treated to a guided walking tour that brought the town’s Gold Rush history to life. Thanks to Ron and Julie’s connection with the tour guide, we got an especially engaging and informative experience, full of stories, details, and insights that you don’t always get on a typical visit. It added a whole new layer of appreciation to a place many of us have visited before.

After the tour, we kept things relaxed with lunch at one of the park’s restaurants, giving everyone time to visit, laugh, and swap stories from the morning.

All in all, it was a simple, easy-paced outing, great weather, great company, and a great reminder that sometimes the best tours are the ones that let you slow down and enjoy the history right in our own backyard.

April Club Meeting

47 members came to enjoy the camaraderie and Tex-Mex dinner!

Round Up Meeting

Alan Clark Tour

The group started the tour with Allan’s 1912 Ferris wheel. He bought it in Denver, shipped it home.  He put together at his house. It runs too!!

Potluck in Allan’s backyard. 30 members combined, Sonora & Gateway’s Clubs, enjoyed a fun tour of Allan Clark’s cars & carriages. Tours are fun, but it’s the friends that join in, that make a great tour!

Thanks goes out to the Gibson’s for planning and leading this wonderful Tour!

Spring Fling Tour

Perfect short lunch tour!

Sweet reward at the Frosty!

Lion Bridge

We rolled out of Sonora early, still in the dark, headlights on, it made for a memorable start to a great day.

A big thank you to Todd and Vince for organizing the tour, and for all the time and energy they put into the Lion Bridge event.

Everyone from Sonora had a wonderful time. The drive was beautiful, it was fun being part of the history of the bridge, and it was great connecting with the Modesto A’s too!

A fun day, well done, and very much appreciated.

Bob’s Memorial

It was a beautiful day as many Model A’s made the short trip from Barrows to the Sheriff’s Posse Grounds in Jamestown to honor Bob Guimarin.

150 family and friends gathered together, with Bob’s beloved Mail Truck parked out front to welcome the guests. The celebration began with the Naval Honor Guard paying tribute to the Navy veteran. Paul Shinn then introduced members of the family, each sharing something special about Bob.

Afterward, Laura treated us to a wonderful lunch, followed by more stories, laughter, and of course more tears.

Friends and family.

Model A’s everywhere.

A fitting celebration.

It’s what Bob loved.

Hornitos Tour and Meal

We had a great little outing to Hornitos. Four Model A’s made the trip, along with the Winters’ yellow truck and three modern cars. We were also joined by members from the Gateway A’s, which made the day even better.

Good roads, good company, and a nice meal in Hornitos made for another enjoyable day with the Sonora A’s.

The No Nonsense Tour

Well… we had fun.

Which just goes to show, we don’t need wildly exaggerated promotions, freshly washed cars, dash cameras, or prize tables to enjoy a Sonora A’s tour.

We just showed up, fired up the four-bangers, pointed them down the road, and let it happen.

Turns out, that’s all that's needed… that and a tow truck.
